This show had grown quite a cult following over the years, and thanks to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, it has exploded in popularity in recent years. It helps that almost every single episode in the series is incredibly rewatchable, making you laugh over and over at the same jokes, time and time again.
To date, the series has aired 134 episodes, and shockingly only a single one of those is bad (Frank's Brother). Download now and later movie. Yes of course some are weaker than others as is natural with any show, but aside from one instance, not one of those episodes will make you feel like you've wasted your time or fail to make you laugh.
Not a single season is bad as a whole, they're all fantastic, but some are just.. less fantastic than others.
12. Season 12
Sometimes it's easy to hate on something that hasn't been around for awhile, but the most recent season of Sunny has been one of the weakest.
Season 12 had a only a few episodes that truly delivered, but a handful of ones that fell flat. 'The Gang Turns Black,' a musical episode, was entirely hit or miss for fans. 'Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer' is a solid, but only delivers if you had previously seen the murder documentaries it's referencing, and is yet another oddly formatted episode that breaks from typical Sunny format.
Some highlights were 'Hero or Hate Crime?' and 'The Gang Goes to a Water Park,' with some even considering the latter as one of the best in the series.
'Hero or Hate Crime?' felt like the most Sunny episode of the lot, seeing the gang squabble back and forth, dropping obscenities, all while sitting in one location. This episode also saw Mac acknowledge his homosexuality, coming out to the gang officially.
Mac coming out is a huge milestone for the show, as it's been teased now for over 10 years. Which is why it seems so odd they would jam other huge story developments into Season 12 as well like Charlie finally sleeping with the Waitress after 12 years of stalking. On top of this is Dennis' double life as a family man and ultimately walking away from the gang. Oh, and Maureen Ponderosa is dead. All these huge plot developments seem like they could have front-lined a season alone, but lost impact when packed into a single season like they were.
